Etiquette & Espionage

By Gail Carriger

Sophronia is a young teenage girl with a few rough edges. And when her mother decides that she has had all she can take, she sends her off to finishing school. But little does she know that this is not your run of the mill finishing school.

Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality is a very unique school. One where a girl becomes a lady and many other qualities. Such as an information gatherer, a spy, an assassin, and the like. Learning poisons and dance lessons. Perfume and fighting.

Sophronia may be just the right pick for this academy. But why is she being attacked? What is this prototype? And when will she get that curtsy right? All of these are awaiting your discovery.

I very much enjoyed this book. If you are a fan of the Parasol Protectorate books you’ll value this series. It is set in the same world as Alexia Tarabotti only 25 years earlier. Some of our favorite characters make appearances as well as impressions. Giving you insight into their beginnings. I give it a seven out of ten. It is a great story, I was a bit reserved with it being more of a young adult novel. However, it kept me interested and I love the steam punk element of all of Gail Carriger’s novels.

Take the time!
